According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Developement, the Cameron Ferry is closed until further notice.

DOTD officials hope for the ferry service to resume by April 5, 2016.

According to the LA DOTD website:

LAKE CHARLES, LA - DOTD announces that effective immediately the M/V Acadia Ferry in Cameron, Louisiana, is currently out of service until further notice.

On the evening of Thursday, March 31, the Acadia Ferry encountered damage after hitting an object. Due to the extent of damage, the ferry will need to go into dry dock for emergency repair. While the M/V Acadia Ferry undergoes repair, the Feliciana is being sent to Cameron in order to resume ferry service for passenger vehicles only.

The Feliciana is anticipated to arrive on Sunday, April 3. Pending inspection by the United States Coast Guard, ferry service is expected to resume by Tuesday, April 5.
