Andrea Broadhead Loses Cancer Battle

Friends of Andrea Brodhead say she died Thursday evening after a battle with cancer that had grown worse in recent months.

Brodhead is the wife of U-L Lafayette's women's basketball coach Garry Brodhead, and both did much to promote young women's basketball ambitions.

According to the Advocate, Andrea and Gary had been making trips to M.D. Anderson inHoustonover the course of the last year for her treatment.

The couple have three children and three grandchildren.
