Amid Helium Shortage, Party City Closing 45 Stores

A global helium shortage is causing a major uproar for local Party City stores. The party supply's parent company has issued a statement saying that they will be closing 45 stores across the USA due to the global helium crisis. There are currently 870 stores in the US and Canada, and the closings will take place throughout 2019. So far, no Louisiana stores have reported to be shuttering their doors, but ones in California, Connecticut, Washington and Illinois have.

According to USA Today 'Party City is working to secure a new helium source and a contract, which is subject to final approval, and would provide its stores with helium beginning this summer and continuing for several years.'
