Rainbow Trout,  in Lafayette, Louisiana? Checking out fishing poles from the library? It's all true!

In conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' "Get Out And Fish!" Community Fishing Program, the poles are available to anyone with a valid library card and Louisiana Freshwater Fishing License (for those who qualify for a license. Under the age of 16 and born before June 1, 1940, do not require a license).

LDWF stocked several ponds with Rainbow Trout throughout the state. In Lafayette Parish, the ponds at Girard Park and Southside Regional Park are stocked. Southside Regional Park is located right next to the East Regional Branch of the Lafayette Public Library, next to Fabacher Field on La Nouvelle, just off of the Youngsville Highway.

Now, get out and fish!
