Time.com's Alexandra Sifferlin submitted a report about some of the New York City Marathon runners' determination to run the foot race, in spite of it being cancelled, and giving back to the relief efforts at the same time.

As is usual with the race, people came in from all over the world to participate in the annual event, and even without official timekeepers, start/finish lines, marathon numbers or even support teams/volunteers, they ran their own version of the race.  This time, they carried donations for relief efforts.
