The naming of Lafayette Parish's new high school has become a very contended topic among Lafayette Parish citizens.

The Lafayette Parish School Board is set to vote Wednesday night on the heavily debated topic.

Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter and Councilman Matt Romero visited the KPEL studios insisting their Youngsville constituents want the school to be named Youngsville High School.

Ritter said the tactics that have been employed by the City of Broussard to name the school anything but Youngsville High are politically driven.

Ritter argues "Youngsville" is a name that is synonymous with "quality and a great education system."
