Those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to purchase new clothes each year often try to find places to donate the old clothing.

The go-to for most people is Goodwill or the Salvation Army, but there are many other organizations who can use clean, serviceable clothing.

Women's shelters, homeless shelters, veteran's organizations - lots of options.

One option that I never thought of was defendants, represented by public defenders. People who are having to make court appearances that might not have access to presentable clothing for the courtroom.

Regardless of your position on defendants (in some people's minds, if you are in a courtroom to face a judge, you must be guilty of SOMETHING), looking "presentable" in a courtroom can not only make a difference in front of some judges, it can also give defendants a sense of dignity in a time of uncertainty.

According to one of the people who commented on a Reddit thread, button-up or button-down shirts are optimal, but polo-type shirts are acceptable.

I'm not telling you where to donate your clothing, I'm just giving you another option!
