Toyota vehicles have a good reputation for being built with safety as a top priority. Several models have four and five star ratings. Why is the company deliberately constructing a hazardous environment? The answer is actually quite simple. Multiple car manufacturers are in various stages of developing driverless vehicles. Toyota is building a simulated urban environment at its Michigan research and testing facility, according to slashgear.com. The facility will simulate urban traffic congestion, slick surfaces, and highway merging lanes to challenge the technology being developed  for autonomous vehicles. It will be interesting to see how applying this new technology will affect insurance rates, especially here in Louisiana. The Bayou State is infamous for its notoriously bad drivers.
