Will you get to keep the shorts and short-sleeves around a little longer or is it time to bring down the box of cold weather gear?

The Farmer's Almanac has released it's long - range forecast for Louisiana. Here are a few of the highlights:

August: all eyes are on the tropics as there is a potential for tropical development. Read more here from KATC.

September: as football gets into full swing, temperatures will be mostly warm with some cool weather here and there. Temps will be a little higher than normal and the rain chances will be slightly below normal. The tropics continue to be worth watching.

October and beyond: Winter will be warmer than normal with the lowest temps in late November, the first half of December, early January, and early February. Unfortunately for us, rainfall will be above normal in the north and around average for the south.
