What Is This Creature?

I was with Tucker in the front yard Sunday morning, and I noticed something moving in the yard, so I got in closer for a look-see...

It was dark, long and slimy-looking, and it seemed to be 'searching' for something or somewhere to go....  is it an earthworm?  A slug?  An eel?  I don't think that it's a snake, because snakes (unless covered in mud) aren't slimy....  Can anyone identify this thing, and do I need to burn my yard and my house to get rid of it and all of its kind?
