I was at a friend's house the other day, and he told me to go look at his "problem" under the carport.  When I looked, I saw several honey bees, all around a hole in the wall.

I asked him if he was going to "get rid" of them, and he said "heck no!  That's free honey!".

So, what do you do if you find bees in your wall (or attic, basement, shed)?  First of all do NOT spray them with insecticide without asking a few questions first.  This website will help!.

Bees are VERY important to the world.  They are responsible for helping pollinate about 1/3 of all crops in the United States, which is VITAL to our well-being.  Bees also provide honey, which (beyond being good for you) is delicious.

Some professional beekeepers may not have time to help you themselves, but some novice beekeepers, or hobbyists, might enjoy the challenge of relocating the insects.  Most professional beekeepers will know a hobbyist or two, as the hobbyists usually seek out the professional beekeepers for advice.

Know this: bee removal can get expensive (especially if they've taken up residence in a home or building), as you may have to remove walls or other parts of the structure to get to the honeycomb.  Though we don't like to exterminate bees, sometimes it is necessary for safety or financial reasons.

Anyway, my buddy Elliot can't wait to tear into that wall and remove the honey, and I can't wait to put some of that honey on my cornbread!
