Children of the ’80s, rejoice! Wham! are set to reunite 26 years after splitting. The duo is where pop superstar George Michael got his start and how he rose to prominence. He is said to be reuniting with former pop partner Andrew Ridgeley to give it another “wake me up before you go go,” to borrow the chorus of one of their biggest hits. It looks to be one spectacular show and not much else, but hey, we’ll take what we can get.

The Daily Mirror reports that Michael and Ridgeley are reteaming for a “one-off pop extravaganza” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut hit. The source said, “George and Andrew have often said their Club Tropicana days are well behind them. But seeing as their anniversary coincides with George releasing new material, it’s one of those ‘now or never’ moments.”

A full-scale tour and new material seems unlikely, but the pair does want to get together again to celebrate their milestone anniv. The insider said it will be a “a big gig… and an even bigger party afterwards!”

The event is merely in the planning stages at this point.

Wham! split in 1986, with Ridegely keeping a low profile while Michael became a mega pop star in the late ’80s. They were a duo forevs ago, but with ’80s nostalgia at an all-time high, it’s prime time for a Wham! reunion. Sign us up.
