Cracklin Festival -The 26th annual Cracklin Festival is this weekend in Port Barre, Louisiana. Sample local delicacies, including boudin, jambalaya and, of course, cracklins! There is a Queen's Pageant with fifteen different age divisions, a parade down Main Street, carnival rides for all ages, live musical entertainment from local and regional artists, great food and drinks, and of course, the Cracklin Cook-Off, one of the highlights of each Cracklin Festival.  The Cook-Off is not only a test of cracklin cooking ability, but showmanship as well.  Divided into a Professional category for established restaurants and chefs, and an amateur category for people who just love to cook cracklins!  Prizes are awarded for both quality of cracklins, and booth presentation.

Frog Festival - Hop on down to the Rayne Frog Festival to have a ‘toadally’ awesome time.  The “Big Gig” showcases music throughout the weekend featuring national recording artists, regional bands and local talent.  Signature events such as frog racing and jumping and selection of the Frog Derby Queen take place in the shade of the Festival Pavilion offering protection, rain or shine!  In the shadow of a spectacular carnival, attendees can enjoy froglegs as well as local Cajun specialities.  An Arts and Crafts show at the Civic Center as well as a Grand Parade jump throughout the Frog Capital of the World for this festive event being held November 9-13, 2011.

Ice Gators - The Louisiana IceGators home opener will be on November 11, 2011, at the Cajundome.  In honor of Veterans Day, they will host “Military Appreciation Night” for our veterans and members of our armed forces who live throughout Acadiana. The Gators will play Saturday night as well, and will be collecting donations for Second Harvest. Both games will be against Augusta.
