'Seasonal Depression rears it's ugly head this time of year but there are steps you can take to keep it at bay.

The scientific name for feeling depressed, which many experience during the winter months, is called 'Seasonal Affective Disorder'.  We tend to get depressed during the winter months due to not enough sunlight and a drop in serotonin levels.  There are things you can do to prevent this condition.  You could try to get more sunshine, but when the weather is too cold to be outdoors, try the following:

1.  Get a massage.  This will up your serotonin levels.

2.  Laugh.  Research shows that even fake laughing will bring up you serotonin levels.

3.  Exercise.  Exercising will increase your serotonin levels not just when you are working out, but for hours after.

Even a simple quick backrub can keep you from feeling depressed.
