The Ragin' Cajuns are headed to the Baton Rouge Regional after finishing off their perfect run through the Houston Regional with a 5-2 win over Rice.

The Super Regional will begin Saturday, with a second game on Sunday and a third on Monday, if necessary  Game times and television will be announced Tuesday.

Last year's Ragin' Cajuns were called "grinders." After Head Coach Tony Robichaux was quoted saying how he prefers players who drink from the hose, this year's postseason run is being personified in a different way. The "Water Hose Boyz," as last year's catcher Mike Strentz referred to them on Twitter, are writing their own story with their backs against the wall. After battling out of the loser's bracket to claim the Sun Belt Tournament, it's been nothing but guts. Blake Trahan thought they were one of the hottest teams in the country headed into Houston. It looks like the Cajuns backed it up. Associate Head Coach Anthony Babineaux sees it in his team as well.

"These guys believe they're not done," Babineaux said after the game, "They really believe that they're not done."

How did it happen? The Cajuns jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the back of their seniors. The first four hits were all registered by seniors, and they were responsible for four of the five RBI's.

Dylan Butler had a multi-hit day. Greg Davis had a hit and some nice defensive plays. Tyler Girouard picked up a hit, and he was shouting encouragement from the dugout the entire game for his defense. Evan Powell was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Houston Regional, and he came through with two big RBI's in the fifth that ended up being the difference. It wasn't all on the upperclassmen. Three freshman pitchers combined to shut the door on a Houston Regional where the folks from Louisiana were loud and proud, even though they were supposed to be outnumbered.

Evan Guillory lasted five innings, and he allowed the only two runs of the game, while digging himself out of some sticky situations. Will Bacon went an inning strong before loading the bases up with no outs for Dylan Moore...who pulled a Houdini two different times to shut things down for the final three innings. Rice outhit the Cajuns, 11-7, but the pitching and defense made sure those men ended up stranded. The ice water was flowing through freshman veins out in Houston, but they're not done yet.

"You don't have to win 58 games to get to Omaha," Coach Babineaux reminded Cajun Nation, "That's what we're looking at right now."

The Cajuns are on their way to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers in a Super Regional. How many people expected to find this year's group of Cajuns in another Super Regional, after losing as much beef as they did to the pro's and graduation? The honest answer is not many. The men of Ragin' Cajun Baseball clearly believed, and so did the fans that followed them all the way to Houston to watch this bit of magic play out.

One thing is for sure, regardless of whether the "Water Hose Boyz" make it to the College World Series, they will have folks around Acadiana sipping from the hose for a while.
