The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will accept bids through Wednesday for houseboat mooring sites at Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area in St. Mary Parish. Successful bidders will be awarded a five-season lease allowing houseboat mooring from Sept. 1 to March 15 each year. The department will provide mooring pilings at the lease site. Bids will be opened on July 31 at 10:30 a.m. Houseboats can be used as bases for hunting, fishing, boating and other activities. More bidding information is available online here. The 14,000-acre Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area is at the mouths of the Atchafalaya River and the Wax Lake Outlet, about 25 miles south of Morgan City.
