I came across this article from the Huffington Post yesterday about how the big-wigs on Wall Street are getting away with crimes with just a slap on the wrist, and bank accounts full of our money.  When they get fined, they sometimes pay the fines with our money!!

This story claims that the US Security Exchange Commission

pretends to enforce the law on Wall Street with puny slap-on-the-wrist fines (that the biggest banks get to pay with shareholders money and insurance policies) that misleads the public into believing that the SEC is doing their job, while signaling to Wall Street that they have nothing to worry about.

An interesting read that makes me very leery of our government's "checks and balances" programs/commissions, and also makes me a little sick to my stomach.
