Whitney Houston will be saluted at this year’s ‘VH1 Divas’ special, according to Billboard. The tribute show is scheduled to be taped in December in Los Angeles. Houston’s former musical director Rickey Minor will executive produced the event.

Houston has appeared on the ‘Divas’ special three times during her career — in 1999, 2002 and 2003. Houston’s family and record executives at Sony have also given the ‘VH1 Divas’ producers the green-light to organize this honorary special.

No performers have been announced as of yet, but you can bet they won’t have any trouble grabbing several big-name artists for the tribute. After all, it’s for the biggest diva in music.

“We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney’s music, it would be ‘Divas,’” VH1 president Tom Calderone tells Billboard. “December felt like enough time where it wouldn’t be sad anymore, you’d want to celebrate her music.”

We agree. We can’t wait to see this special.

Meanwhile, Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, is set to release his first album in 14 years. The album, titled ‘The Masterpiece,’ is due in stores on June 5. The set’s first single is ‘Don’t Let Me Die.’

The soon-to-be married crooner describes the album as a musical diary of his life. “I simply wanted to create a body of work that will take listeners on a musical journey,” Brown said in a press release (via Billboard). “The style of music that will allow people to get in touch with their highs and lows and their joys and pain of living through song. At the same time, I am hoping to bridge the gap between good old R&B and R&B of today.”
