Louisiana Ragin' catcher Lexie Comeaux was honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, as well as the Sun Belt Conference on Tuesday.

Comeaux was tabbed the LSWA Softball Hitter of the Week and the Sun Belt Conference Hitter of the Week.

Meanwhile, Comeaux's teammate, Alex Stewart, was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.

A first time winner of both awards, Comeaux joins freshman pitcher Alyssa Denham, who won the February Player of the Month award, as recipients of honors by the LSWA, while joining teammates Kelli Martinez and DJ Sanders (twice) as winners of the honor from the Sun Belt Conference over the last four weeks..

A junior from Tomball, Texas, Comeaux had a weekend players dream of, over the weekend, in the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park.

In 6 games, Comeaux went 9-for-15, to go along with 6 home runs, 2 doubles, 4 walks, and 15 runs batted in.

Looking even deeper, Comeaux, over her last 7 games, has gone 11-for-17 with 16 RBI’s, raising her batting average almost 200 points in the process.

A senior from Zionsville, Indiana, Stewart pitched 9.1 scoreless innings over the weekend, while going 3-0, with wins over North Dakota St. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, and Alcorn St. on Sunday.

A 2016 NFCA All-American and the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, Stewart joins Denham, who won the award two weeks ago.

Comeaux and the Cajuns return to action on Thursday, when UL plays host to Baylor in a non-conference match-up at 4 pm.
