Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team returns to the gridiron on Thursday evening, when coach Mark Hudspeth’s squad travels to Statesboro, Georgia to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Sun Belt Conference match-up.

The game, which will mark the fourth of six road games for UL, will also serve as the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Cajun Harley Davidson Tailgate show, begins at 4:30 pm on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, with the rest of the network, including Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, joining the broadcast in time for the Southside Honda Pregame Show, which will begin at 5:30 o’clock.

Kickoff time at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia is set for 6:30 pm.

Louisiana fell to Idaho last week, 23-13, to drop them to improve to 3-5, overall, and 2-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Offensively, the Cajuns are averaging 22.3 points-per-game, to go along with 364.0 total yards, including 172.4 rushing yards, and 191.6 passing yards, while allowing 27.3 points, and 384.1 total yards, including 126.6 rushing yards, and 257.5 passing yards.

Louisiana is led by senior quarterback Anthony Jennings, who has completed 139-of-224 passes for 1,442 yards and 9 touchdowns, and senior running back Elijah McGuire, who has rushed for 751 yards and five touchdowns.

Georgia Southern, who lost to Ole Miss in non-conference action last week, 37-27, will enter the match-up at 4-5, overall, and 3-2 in league play.

Offensively, the Eagles are averaging 26.8 points-per-game, to go along with 388.4 total yards, including 242.1 rushing yards, and 146.3 passing yards a contest, while allowing 27.7 points, to go along with 393.6 total yards, including 175.8 rushing yards, and 217.8 passing yards.

Georgia Southern is paced by senior quarterback Kevin Ellison, who has completed 53-of-87 passes for 713 yards and 6 touchdowns, while rushing for another 462 yards and four scores, and senior running back Matt Breida, who has rushed for 506 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cajuns, who remain on the road on Saturday, 19, for a non-conference contest against Georgia, return home on Saturday, November 26, for their home finale against Arkansas St.
