The top-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun baseball team won the rubber game of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series on Sunday, defeating the WKU Hilltoppers, 7-4, at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Second baseman Jave Conrad blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom half of the sixth inning, to propel UL to the three-run win.

The Cajuns scored a run in the bottom half of the first inning, when Ryan Leonards came home on a ground ball off the bat of Seth Harrison, making it 1-0.

Louisiana added two more runs in the bottom of the second, when Harrison crushed a two-run home run, his seventh round-tripper of the year, extending the lead to 3-0.

WKU scored three runs in the top half of the fifth inning, to tie the game, 3-3, setting up the big blast by Conrad in the bottom of the sixth, which came with Caleb Adams, Tyler Girouard, and Leonards aboard, giving UL the lead right back, 7-3.

The Hilltoppers scored a run in the top of the eighth, but it was too little, too late, as the Cajuns went on to the series win, their third-straight of the conference season.

Leonards had two hits at the plate for UL, while Conrad drove in four, with Harrison contributing three RBI's.

Connor Toups (1-0) recorded the win for the Cajuns, his first career win, pitching 4.1 innings of relief, while Jake Thompson (2-2) suffered the loss for the Hilltoppers, as UL head coach Tony Robichaux notched his 700th career victory.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 26-2, overall, and 8-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while WKU fell to 14-14, overall, and 4-5 in league play.

The Cajuns are back in action on Tuesday night, when they host Tulane in non-conference action.
