Horse racing's crown jewel, The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday. Post time for 139th 'Run For The Roses" is this 5:04 pm, at the historic Churchill Downs.

American jockeys seem to be vanishing from the "Sport of Kings" in recent years. There are only seven American riders in this year's field. Not surprisingly, they're both from Louisiana.  Lafayette native Robby Albarado is aboard Golden Soul, trained by Dallas Stewart. He's at 50-1, and drew the 4th post position. Catahoula native & Hall of Famer  Calvin Borel  has won the Derby 3 times. He's on the 3rd post position, aboard Revolutionary, trained by Todd Pletcher at 10-1.

Louisiana jockey have a rich horse racing tradition. Hall of famer, and three time Derby winner Kent Desormeaux hails from the Lafayette area, and began his career at Evangeline Downs.

Here's to the Homeboys! Best of luck!!
