A pine planted 10 years ago to honor late Beatle George Harrison has been killed by...BEETLES.  How weird is that?

The tree planted in 2004 near L.A.'s Griffith Observatory in honor of the iconic musician was killed by his band's namesake insect. A Beatle's memorial tree was killed by bark beetles and lady bug beetles.  Other trees in the observatory have also fallen victim to the unfriendly creatures.

According to the LA Times, “Except for the loss of tree life, Harrison likely would have been amused at the irony. He once said his biggest break in life was getting into the Beatles; his second biggest was getting out.”
