Smoking has become a very politically incorrect thing to do in recent years. The Louisiana legislature is ramming that point home. The Advertiser reports, a bill labeling cigarette butts as litter received final passage in the Louisiana house by a unanimous vote on Monday. The bill now goes to governor Bobby Jindal for his signature. It provides stiff penalties for throwing cigarette butts out a car window. A first offense will draw a $300 fine and 8 hours community service, picking up trash. That jumps to $700 and 16 hours for a second offense. A third offense will bring a fine of $1500, and 80 hours on a cleanup detail. I don't smoke. How much does a pack of cigarettes cost these days?
