Created by proclamation in 1950 by President Truman, the third Saturday each may is designated as "Armed Forces Day".

A day to pay tribute to all branches of the United States Military, Armed Forces Day is celebrated in many parts of the country with parades, concerts and display of the United States Flag.

If you know a service member, whether they are still serving or not, whether they saw battle or not, please take a moment today and thank them for their service, and be certain to post your colors today for all of Acadiana to see!
