I captured this time lapse video from the front seat basket of the sled at Paws for Adventure in Fairbanks, Alaska, on my February vacation. The dogs pulling our sled are not the elite athletes (some are retired from racing or didn't quite make the cut) that pull sleds in the Iditarod, but they work just as hard. These sweeties greeted us with howls of joy. You see, these dogs love to run, so when people like us come down to the dog yard, they know they get to go! What an adventure! The dogs know the trail, so after passing through a tricky area of the run, the musher steps back and the riders/tourists get to climb out of the sled basket and stand up in back like a real musher! It's exciting, scary, and one of the most thrilling things I've ever had the chance to do, so I wanted to share it with you.
