This weekend's cold weather turns our thoughts to Thanksgiving and Christmas with chances to meet Santa, help the hungry in our area, and prepare for our own holiday celebrations.

Friday, 11/18

The Ragin Cajuns Student - Athlete Advisory Committee  is sponsoring "Cajun Christmas" to make a family's holiday special on Friday, November 18th at 6 PM at the Student Athlete Performance Center. Tickets are $10 for children and $20 for adults, and includes a picture with Santa, holiday arts and crafts, a Christmas movie viewing party in the auditorium, a Christmas list station with Santa's mailbox, and a meal from Chick Fil A. All proceeds assist the 'Adopt A Family For Christmas' program. Call 337 482-5195 to reserve your spot!

Run Live Oak is a charity trail run or walk, 5K, 10K, or 1 mile, benefiting Hearts of Hope of Acadiana. It will be on November 19, 2016 and all runs will start at 9:00am at  Live Oak Plantation south of Abbeville, Louisiana. Read more.

The Lafayette Recreation and Parks Department holds its 65th Annual Turkey Bowl on Saturday, November 19 at Clark Field. The top teams from each of the four LRPD Youth Football Leagues play to decide the Parish Champion for each League.
Admission is $5 for Adults. No outside food or drink will be allowed into the stadium. Concessions proceeds go to the Lafayette Kiwanis Club. Read more.
