"The Longest Day" is an event to raise funds for and awareness of Alzheimer's.  It will be held June 20, 2015, at Maurice Heymann Memorial Park.

The park is at the corner of South College and Girard Park Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana.  If you can't make it to the event, you are invited to participate from wherever you are!

Biking will be the theme, but any activity will be encouraged.  Want to Hula-Hoop for an hour?  Twist away!  Want to sit and talk with a friend or family member for an hour?  Chat away!  You choose the activity, from wherever you are!

The event at the park will feature a bike relay, food, drinks, music, a raffle, fun, and a whole lot of people who are trying to make a difference in the lives of people affected by Alzheimer's disease.

From Claudia Durand's fundraising page:

On June 20, my team is participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. From sunrise to sunset, we will complete a series of bicycling relays to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

We are riding in honor of our dear Aimee Durand who was taken from us recently by Alzheimer's. To join me in this effort, click the DONATE button below. Thanks!

Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. These numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.

Together, we can advance research to treat, prevent and, ultimately, cure Alzheimer's, and provide programs and support to improve the lives of those affected today.

PS: If you are unable to join our team, I hope you’ll consider supporting us with a donation
