The LSU Tigers didn't start off their trip to Omaha the way they wanted, taking an opening game 10-3 loss at the hands of TCU.

After the weather pushed start time back by 30 minutes, Jared Poche' and the Tigers kept things close through the first four innings. The Horned Frogs led 2-1, heading into the fifth. That's when things started getting hairy for the Tigers. Four runs in the fifth, and four more in the seventh made too steep of a hill to climb. Despite only getting outhit 8-9, LSU ended up with a seven run loss. Looking for the difference? Check the error column.

Four Tiger errors lead to three unearned runs, but if you do the math the errors weren't the only difference. Jared Foster was lucky enough to hit a ball over the wall, but it was one of only three RBI's collected by Tiger batters in TD Ameritrade. Runs have been at a premium the last few years, but three wasn't close to enough against the explosive TCU offense.

Five different Horned Frogs collected RBI's on the day, with Connor Wanhanen, Dave Steinhagen and Derek Odell collecting crooked numbers in that stat column.

TCU's pitcher, Preston Morrison, stumped the Tigers for seven complete innings, only allowing five hits and one run, while Poche' only went 4.1 before LSU had to hand it to the bullpen. The Tigers tied the College World Series record by throwing eight arms total. That's a lot of pitchers to burn in one outing.

LSU will face the loser of Vanderbilt versus Cal State Fullerton, Tuesday at 2:00 pm on ESPN2.
