Shoeboxes for Seniors

Shoeboxes for seniors is returning this holiday season and 99.9 KTDY, The Blake Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, and Cajun Area Agency On Aging are collecting shoeboxes filled with items useful to seniors in the Acadiana area to help aging citizens get a special treat this holiday.

We are accepting shoeboxes through December 20th.

This simple little box makes a huge impact on a senior.

Due to many dietary restrictions and medical permissions, food is not recommended. Basic hygiene items are already provided for residents.

Each filled box cost only $10 with items found at a discount store. I just put the boxes in the bottom of my shopping cart and filled them up as I perused the aisles.

Shoe Boxes for Seniors returns next month for year three. KTDY collects shoe boxes filled with items useful to seniors in the Acadiana area. With the help of the Cajun Area Agency On Aging , The Blake At Lafayette and The Bayou Church, aging citizens will get a special treat this holiday. But we can't do it without your help.

Many nursing home residents have no family nearby. Some have outlived their children and all their friends. The most needy will not receive a single gift this Christmas. We asked for your help Acadiana and again this year, you answered our plea. Shoeboxes For Seniors will make hundreds of needy seniors in our community feel special this Christmas.

A group of coworkers in the Department of Health office made a huge donation to Shoeboxes for Seniors today. Instead of exchanging gifts within their office, they decided to donate to needy seniors. They delivered over 50 boxes today, to be distributed to needy seniors in Acadiana by the Cajun Area Agency on Aging...

The group had just received a donation from someone they had helped during the August floods and decided to pay it forward.
