Heads up if you have to travel Eastbound on Highway 90 today. The road will be closed 1 mile west of La 88 in Iberia Parish for emergency road repair from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for Roadway Surfacing Repair of Joint Blow-up. I’m not sure what that is, but it sounds serious!

From KPEL 96.5 NewsTalk: A small single engine plane crashed near Highway 90 and Dubois Road this morning. The pilot was transported to the hospital, and was conscious when they transported him. Dubois Road was shut down for a short period of time. No other injuries were reported.

Phased Re-Entry For Multi-Chem Fire Evacuees in New Iberia

Crews working at the haz-mat fire have extinguished the fire and have determined it is safe for people to return to the area. Currently, Louisiana State Police, in conjunction with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, will be allowing residents to return to their homes and businesses in a controlled manner to ensure public safety.

Anyone wishing to return to their home is asked to take Admiral Doyle (from the south side) to LA 3212 where a deputy will direct them to the Sugarena for further instructions.

Explosion At New Iberia Chemical Plant Update

There’s still no word on what chemicals were involved in a late afternoon explosion and fire at the Multi-Chem plant in New Iberia. Company officials confirmed last night that there were no injuries. Boil water for 1 full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
