'Taken' was the surprise hit of 2009, a January dump that inexplicably made nearly $150 million in the United States and transformed Liam Neeson into an instant action star. Three years later, 'Taken 2' has arrived in theaters on a primo release date and with an advertising campaign that probably cost more than the entire first movie. Well, it looks like the hype was worth it. The first film may have been a sleeper, but the second adventure of Liam Neeson's kidnap-prone family has opened like a true blockbuster.

They've barely begun filming 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and we're already reporting 'Mockingjay' news! It looks like the two-part finale in the trilogy might be getting a little pedigree boost from Emmy-winning writer Danny Strong, who scripted the upcoming HBO flick 'Game Change.'
It's expected that box office numbers go up on Sunday afternoon. By that point, the estimates tend to be pretty accurate and if there is a difference come Monday morning, it's negligible. Not so today. Three new releases are nearly deadlocked as I write this and we won't know until sometime tomorrow who will actually be one top. We shall update accordingly. Anyway, here's where we stand right now.
Oh, that poor Lindsay Lohan. Just when it seems her life has gotten somewhat back on track, there's all manner of hoopla placing her at odds with her role in 'Scary Movie 5,' or compounding Amanda Bynes' recent auto troubles with a light fender-bender of her own. Now, however, the spotlight truly shines on the notoriously stroubled starlet, as Lifetime has released the first official trailer for Lohan's "comeback" release Elizabeth Taylor biopic 'Liz & Dick'! But who's under more scrutiny in the clip? Lohan or Taylor herself?
Every movie wants to get in on the post-credits bandwagon, the most recent one being 'The Avengers'' sneak peek at Thanos, but apparently 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' is trying to join in. Certainly a surprising film to feature a stinger, most would probably agree, but it's been such a fan-driven series that it has to be considered something of a parting gift to the folks who made it so huge.

"Clint's a gruff baseball scout, out on the road with his estranged daughter." "Uh-oh," she chimed as the lights dimmed. "Life lessons!"
Life lessons indeed, and they come at you with the subtlety of an aluminum bat cranking a deep line drive. Clint, craggier than ever, begins each day arguing with his prostate, eating junk food and rooting through a stack of papers reporting high school and college score results. "He's the last scout in the majors who doesn't use a computer!" they muse at the Braves' home office. Nasty, conniving Matthew Lillard means it in a bad way, while John Goodman looks fondly upon Clint's old fashioned ways.
