Police say Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, from the Church Point area is being held in the Lafayette Parish jail on one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of first-degree murder, reports KPEL 96.5.

Detectives were able to identify a bicyclist believed to be Mickey Shunick traveling on Versailles Blvd and Saint Landry Street. At approximately 1:47 am the bicyclist is captured on Versailles Blvd traveling towards St. John Street.
