10 Funny Commercials Starring Corporate Shill Darth Vader
Darth Vader may be an evil galactic overlord, but that doesn’t mean he’s above being a corporate shill for Madison Avenue. Hey, times are tough these days, even for a Sith Lord.

I must admit: I love pranks. The scarier the better. Especially when the prank is set up with hidden cameras for all the world to enjoy.
For the Superbowl, Doritos hosted a contest for a new commercial. I think that the winner received a free bag of chips or something. Well, the winning video was great, but the runners-up were SUPER! Most of them were able to elicit a hearty laugh from me (maybe I was bored and easily entertained?). I'll let you judge for yourself.
In what is clearly the greatest and strangest commercial ever made, a poodle drives a half-car through a neon car wash manned by robots as Iron Maiden plays in the background. What’s the ad selling? Who cares!
If you want to scare the you-know-what out of yourself for Halloween, check out Fear Net for horror, thriller and suspense films, video on demand and more. They even have a contest right now where you can submit your scary photos and videos to appear in their new promo spot. But if you're like me and prefer the thrill of handing out candy to cute kids in costumes, you'll love sitting in front of your computer watching these old commercials from Halloweens past in Lafayette!
I first heard about Rhett and Link, on the Conan O'Brien Show. They have a show on the IFC network called 'Commercial Kings' where they produce goofy commercials for small businesses. Sounds crazy, but they are some kind of funny. They are so bad, they're good! Here's a look at some of my favorites...
It seems like a few here at the station had hot dogs over the weekend: Natalie celebrated her birthday with a weenie feast in Alexandria, and Shannon and I had chili dogs from Darby's Grocery on 16th Street, just off of the Thruway.
When Natalie came in yesterday morning with her "As Seen on TV' Justin Bieber toothbrush, it got me thinking about some of the great old television commercials for crazy products that sold millions of dollars worth of merchandise. Come on, admit it, you bought a set of knives from Chef Tony, some Handy Putty from Billy Mays! Here are our favorite oldies but goodies.
Remember this Ty-D-Bol commercial? When it aired originally, some people thought showing a toilet tank on television was disgraceful. Imagine what they think now!
Nerf Ping Pong- with safe, soft balls. They really say that in this 1987 commercial.
Happy Friday!
The 'girl' featured in this commercial, Ashleigh Prather, is sister to one of our co-workers, Scott Prather, who works for AM1420 ESPN, our sister station! Funny commercial!!
Do you see a resemblance?? I do!
Here's the video
When CJ played Marvin Gaye this morning, I thought of this old TV spot.: Ray Charles and the California Raisins.
