Men don't say anything, but we really would like something other than an ugly sweater or a tie this Christmas. And next Christmas and the one after that and the one after that, etc. We act like we love the ugly sweater, but fact is, we don't. Now get us something we really want.

The two most craved foods during a woman's pregnancy are pickles and ice cream. And what a woman craves can most times reveal the gender of the baby without any type of test.

A few days ago, I was having a really bad day. One of those days where it was just one thing after the other. What my 25-year-old daughter said to me, changed it on a dime.

Friday morning, to the surprise of many, I announced the name of my favorite Christmas song on the Polyester Power Hour and it's wasn't an Elvis Presley song. WHAT?! Al-though I enjoy many Elvis Christmas songs, I think my favorite Christmas song is The Temptation's version of "Silent Night".

The Academy Award-winning song, "Baby It's Cold Outside" was written by Frank Loesser in 1944, made popular in the 1949 film Neptune's Daughter and although it was recorded by many different singers the most popular version to most today is Marylin Maxwell and Dean Martin's version released in 1959.

I love it when people disagree. I do. I think it makes people or situations better because it allows us to look at something through someone else's eyes. BUT, because we disagree, that doesn't give us the right to be ugly to one another.

A 9-year-old black girl is dead because she was bullied in school. McKenzie Adams was told repeatedly to "kill yourself" by many of her 4th grade classmates. The reason, she was friends with a white male classmate.

The bottom of every good list, the top of every bad. Corrupt politicians. Horrible roads. If a robber went into your home and stole money out of your wallet, you'd call the police. But the state of Louisiana can do it and what do we do? NOTHING!

Walgreens on one side of the street, CVS on the other. What makes you pull into one over the other. Same with Home Depot and Lowe's. Walmart and Target. Two businesses that sell basically the same stuff, so what makes you pick one over the other?

This past Friday morning, December 7, 2018, Debbie Ray said goodbye to after over 40 years of being an Acadiana broadcaster. The night before her big sendoff, a private surprise retirement party was held in her honor.

Jamie Bergeron is a musician, has a new company that will clean your garbage cans called Cajun Can Cleaners and NOW the Cajun music master has his own line of Jamie Bergeron's Cajun Jerky. And after a very publicized battle with colon cancer, his life couldn't be more exciting. He's my friend and I'm so proud of him.

I don't know much about sports, but my friend Steve Wiley does. And he tells me that there is a very good chance that the New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl. Steve tells me there's a good chance they can win it as well. If you're a Saints fan, and you 'Believe', I think you'll enjoy a brand new original song from Acadiana's own Melissa Stevenson. It's called, 'Who Dat Hustle'.

Most people in my neighborhood will not wave at you to save their lives. What has happened to people's sense of decency? Waving doesn't cost anything and is just simply the polite thing to do.

So many times I hear not so rich people, say not so nice things about rich people. I'm guilty of it myself. Is it out of jealousy?

I recently learned that All Seasons Nursery on Johnston, in keeping with tradition, named their Christmas trees again this year. Except this year, they included the names of the KTDY air staff. There was a JayCee tree, a Steve Wiley tree and Debbie Ray and I also had a tree named after us.

I saw a commercial for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on television today. It was followed by a commercial for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. That got me to thinking.

I must be a terrible person. I can't watch those commercials about abused dogs and cats when they come on television. After I saw the very first one, I've never watched another one all the way through.

As a nation, have we lost the meaning of Christmas? Have we become too focus on the indulgence of material things? And what are we teaching our children?

On my way back into town after the Thanksgiving holiday, I was craving a sandwich like I used to get at my grandma's so I stopped into a Subway just outside of Lafayette. I met a gentleman there who taught me a valuable lesson.
