The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that on Tuesday, April 30, La. 82 at the Vermilion River (Perry Bridge), just south of Abbeville, will be closed to motorists so crews can perform maintenance repairs to the bridge.
The Vermilion River has receded some since yesterday afternoon. Now you can see the top of the walkway railing.

LAFAYETTE, LA – The community is invited to let the good times flow on Sunday, October 21 for Bayou Vermilion District’s Bayou Vermilion Festival & inaugural Boat Parade. The Bayou Vermilion Festival is a celebration of and on the Vermilion River and aims to increase awareness of the river as a viable source of recreation for Lafayette Parish.

Help bag some trash this weekend and make Lafayette an even better place to live! LCG's Environmental Quality Division and the Bayou Vermilion District invite the community to take part in the Trash Bash event on Saturday, March 17 from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. Last year, volunteers collected 190 tires, 322 large items (think sofas, televisions, etc.), 790 barrels of trash and 23.7 tons of floating debris. 15.5 TONS of trash have been collected over the past four annual events.
