What began as a suspicious death investigation in Arnaudville nearly a week ago is now a homicide case.

Major Eddie Thibodeaux with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office says 63-year-old Clayborn Lee Pinder of Arnaudville was found dead in the Arnaudville area on September 7th. When investigators found Pinder's vehicle missing from the crime scene, they were able to track it to New Mexico, where it was allegedly being driven by 25-year-old Stoney Bergeron, Jr., who is a person of interest in the case.

"St. Landry detectives are currently transporting the vehicle and Bergeron back to St. Landry Parish," says Sheriff Guidroz. "No further information is being released due to the ongoing investigation."

"I want to take this time to commend the St. Landry Parish detectives and deputies that handled this case from the initial complaint to where we are now. The tremendous care and skill by all officers involved is a true testament to their dedication and commitment."
