Suspected Phone Scammers Arrested In Jamaica
We've recently warned you about a couple of scams. A few days ago, I reported on a scam in which callers claiming to be representatives of MidSouth Bank attempted to get people's debit card information. JayCee more recently warned us about calls originating from Colorado. Here's some good news. Authorities in Jamaica have arrested more than 40 suspected phone scammers. The Jamaica Observer reports, The suspects were allegedly operating an international phone scam, targeted principally to elderly Americans. The scammers reportedly contacted their victims, telling them they'd won an international lottery, and it was a requirement to send money for the taxes involved before they would be allowed to collect their winnings. Laptops, cars and lists of names and addresses were reportedly seized.
