A suspect has been arrested for the shooting death of a 10-year-old boy in Lake Charles Sunday night, according to Lake Charles Police Department officials.

The suspect, 50-year-old Felton Thompson was arrested Wednesday at a New Orleans hotel for the shooting that left Jaylyn Citizen dead, and his 17-year-old brother injured.

According to our news partners at KATC, police say the 17-year-old may never walk again due to his injuries from the Sunday-night shooting,

Thompson is being charged with the following:

  • aggravated kidnapping
  • armed robbery
  • attempted armed robbery with a  firearm
  • first-degree murder

Thompson's bond was set at $303,000.

Authorities say Thompson was paroled from the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola last year, where he served 24 years of a 99-year sentence for armed robbery and other offenses.
