Louisiana Ragin' Cajun pitcher Summer Ellyson is one of the best, statistically, in the Sun Belt conference.

A sophomore, Ellyson currently ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference, with a 1.54 ERA.

How good is that?

Well. Randi Rupp of Texas St., the preseason Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, is the only pitcher with an ERA currently better than Ellyson, at a 1.47.

The only other pitcher with an ERA under 2.00 is South Alabama's Devin Brown, a preseason All-Sun Belt Conference pick, at a 1.86.

A right-hander, Ellyson currently ranks as the toughest pitcher in the league to get a hit against, holding opponents to a .180 batting average, the lowest in the conference.

The sophomore also ranks first in fewest earned runs allowed (17), tied for fourth in wins (8), and fifth in strikeouts.

For the season, Ellyson, a Teurlings Catholic product, is 8-3, to go along with a 1.54 ERA.
