**** UPDATE 2:45 AM -  A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been posted for portions of Vermilion, St. Landry, St. Martin, Acadia, and Lafayette Parishes until 3:30 AM. Expect further warnings to be issued as this line of very heavy/severe thunderstorms moves to the east over the next several hours***

(Original Story) Gusty winds, frequent lightning, and very heavy downpours, that's your forecast for the next few hours if you live in Acadiana. The National Weather Service radar is currently showing a squall line of very heavy storms pushing across southern Louisiana.

These storms have a history of torrential rainfall and frequent cloud to ground lightning. As of 2:00 AM a TORNADO WATCH remains in effect for much of Acadiana. This watch is scheduled to expire at 5 AM.

While there are no current warnings for thunderstorms or tornadoes we encourage you to stay close to this radio station for frequent weather updates over the next few hours as this system moves through.

The forecast for the remainder of the day behind these storms calls for decreasing cloudiness and cooler temperatures.
