Friday night revelers attending the Krewe de Bayou Hollywood Walk of Fame Mardi Gras Ball will want to bring an umbrella with them this evening. Showers and thunderstorms should be moving into Acadiana later this afternoon with the heaviest showers and storms likely to pass through the area by midnight.

The Storm Prediction Center is not forecasting a severe weather outbreak for South Louisiana this evening but some of the storms could have frequent lightning and gusty winds.

The University of Louisiana softball game at Lamson Park with Alabama at 5 PM could be affected by weather. Also, the season opener for Coach Tony Robichaux's Ragin' Cajun baseball team in Hammond could be affected as well. The first pitch for that game is set for 7 PM.

The better news is that Saturday's weather should be improving for baseball, softball, and the Carencro Mardi Gras Parade and the Krewe des Chiens Parade. Also, the weather looks great for Saturday night's Krewe of Carnivale en Rio parade.

For those who will be attending the Florida Georgia Line concert at the Cajundome, you shouldn't have to bring rain gear or umbrellas but you will want to arrive earlier than usual. Because of the close proximity of the parade route to the Cajundome heavy traffic is expected in the area.
