I've been a fan of Danica Patrick since her 2005 rookie season in the Indycar racing series. Her career came to an anti-climactic end when she crashed on lap 68 of the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500. She competed in her first Memorial Day classic 13 years ago, finishing 4th. That garnered her Rookie of the Year honors. Danica was also named series Rookie of the Year. She would have a 2nd top 5 finish at the "Brickyard" in 2009, finishing 3rd. Danica is the only woman to win an Indy series race, capturing the checkered flag at Twin Ring Motegi in 2008. She moved from open wheel racing to NASCAR in 2011. For whatever my humble opinion is worth, I didn't think it was a great move. There's clearly more money on that circuit, but I didn't feel she would be competitive. I was right. She managed just 7 top 10 finishes. She is, however, one of only 14 people to  have led  both The Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500. Danica brought excitement and Panache to motor racing. I hate  to see her go.
