LAFAYETTE, LA – As of 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, Lafayette Parish Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has declared a state of emergency for Lafayette Parish as a result of severe weather.

Citizens are asked to stay off of the roadways until further notice. Anyone experiencing flooding in a home and in need of emergency rescue, should call 9-1-1. ANYONE in ANY emergency situation should call 9-1-1.

All citizens are asked to please pay attention to signs or barricades which indicate flooding ahead and not approach standing or moving water. It is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
