The AP reports
that Starbuck's mobile order app, Mobile Order & Pay, which allows customers to order and pay before arriving, is available nationally as of today. This means that every item on the menu, from lattes to scones to breakfast sandwiches, will now be ready for you when you arrive.

I spoke to a representative of Starbuck's here in Acadiana and was told that all area stores are now using the app, but that there are some important details to consider:

  • The app is available for iPhone and Android devices.
  • The Mobile Order & Pay app requires a Starbuck's Rewards card for payment, meaning you can't use a credit or debit card to pay for your purchases. You can purchase and load a Rewards card online for use with the app.
  • EDITED TO ADD: Rewards cards start at $25. If you're not a regular Starbuck's patron, this might be a deal - breaker.
  • The Mobile Pay & Go app allows you to select the Starbuck's location you want to visit as well as the items you wish to order.
  • To pick up your order, simply go where you usually do to pick your order and give the barista your name. Drive thru orders should be available as well, but call your preferred store to make sure before ordering.

Here's the Mobile Order & Pay FAQ from the Starbuck's site if you have more questions.
