St. Martin Parish Residents Encouraged To Lock Their Cars

St.Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Ginny Higgins says due to recent burglaries, they are reminding resident to lock the doors of their cars and never leave valuables in your car.

Higgins says don't leave any of the following in plain sight:

• Keys
• Wallets
• Purses
• Phones, etc.

Higgins adds you should secure items around your home as well.

She suggests locking up:

• Lawnmowers
• Weed eaters
• Tractors
• ATV's, etc.

In the event that your items are stolen, Higgins says you should always have photos of your items in a secure place to help investigators.

She adds it is always a good idea to report suspicious behavior in your neighborhood to the police.
