Residents of St. Landry Parish will have the opportunity this Saturday, November 4 to get rid of hazardous household items.

St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal District will be holding Household Hazardous Waste Day at both of the parish's recycling centers. One is in Opelousas at 2717 W Landry St and will be held from 8:00am to 12:00pm while the other is in Eunice at 450 N CC Duson St from 8:30am to 12:00pm.

This disposal day will be open to all residents of St Landry Parish. Participants must show proof of residency (driver's license, water bill, etc).

Some of the items accepted include:

Paints
Automobile batteries
Motor oil
Antifreeze
Household cleaners
Household chemicals
Pesticides
Flammables
Corrosives
Medications
Tires (lime 5 per person)
Fluorescent tubes and bulbs
Electronic waste (computers, monitors, printers, scanners, etc)
Cell phones and cell phone batteries

A reminder that this collection is for households only. Large quantities from businesses, farms or commercial operations will not be accepted.
