Many say it just makes since, others think if you can't afford an engagement ring, you're probably not ready for marriage financially.  Finances are a big part of marriage and many times is the very reason for a breakup.  If the cost of an engagement ring is to much for the man to afford, waiting to pop the question might be best.  However, some couples think the tradition of the man paying for the ring is old-fashioned and no longer the norm in the modern world.
