SM’Ville Man Arrested For Recent Burglaries
Three individuals were arrested yesterday in a dual-parish investigation involving a rash of recent burglaries.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff's spokeswoman Maj. Ginny Higgins said the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two people yesterday for burglary.
In a subsequent investigation, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office recovered a large amount of stolen property from locations in St. Martin and Iberia Parishes.
A third suspect, Colby Francois, 20, of St. Martinville was subsequently arrested by investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:
- Four (4) counts of Simple Burglary- LA. R.S. 14:62
- One (1) count of Theft of a Firearm- LA.R.S. 14:67.15
- One (1) count of Cruelty to Animals- LA. R.S. 14:102.1
- One (1) count of Criminal Damage to Property-LA. R.S. 14:56
Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on the above charges and his bond has been set at $362,500.
The investigation remains ongoing and further charges are pending.
