Phone scammers are hard at work, trying to bilk unsuspecting Acadiana residents. We've been notified by SLEMCO representatives, some members are receiving calls demanding a $500 deposit for installation of a "Smart Meter." The caller threatens disconnection if payment isn't made. These calls are not legitimate, and the callers aren't employed by the electric cooperative.

“SLEMCO does not call consumers requesting payments. All of our bills and other communications concerning payments or amounts owed are sent through the US Postal Service.”   - SLEMCO  CEO and General Manager Glenn Tamporello

Temporello went on to say billing questions should be directed to the main office at 337-896-5384.
